RITE OF MARRIAGE
Your decision to get married is one of the most important decisions that you will make in your lifetime. Our hope is that your wedding be holy and meaningful for you and your guests.
For Catholics, marriage is a sacrament. The Sacrament of Matrimony makes married love sacred and holy characterized by a life-long commitment, a deep sense of fidelity and openness to children. In order to ensure that this sacred bond and these holy qualities are appreciated and understood, the Catholic Church has a process for preparing for and entering into the Sacrament of Matrimony. Weddings in the Catholic Church are part of the public worship (liturgy) of the church. Since marriage is a public act, both Church and State have certain requirements.
Please contact the office at 337-364-4439 to schedule an appointment with the Pastor to discuss your wedding at Sacred Heart. This process needs to be started at least 6 months before the planned date. It is important to speak with the Pastor before a date is scheduled.
